Letter sent to the Royal Palace from Ven B Seelawimala, Head Monk

On behalf of our Buddhist Community, we would like to convey our deepest sympathy to the Royal Family at the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

It is with profound sadness that we share the loss with the entire United Kingdom. As the Head of the Commonwealth of Nations she will be a great loss to all fifty-three members.

During her 70-year reign as Head of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth she discharged her duties to the full and her dedication to duty was exemplary.

She had an acute sense of inclusion of all People, Nations and Faiths.

In 2012, during her Diamond Jubilee speech at Lambeth Palace she emphasised that she was not only the Head of the Church of England but the protector of all the faiths.
